This is a great knife for the cost. The knife can be sharpened, and has a good grip on the handle. It slices with ease. The handle is really damn cute, it has little pictures of a pig, cow, and chicken. It’s described to be a meat knife, but I use it for everything. It cuts fruits and vegetables really well. I highly recommend this knife to anyone who is on a budget and is try to get decent equipment for their kitchen.

My roommate had this knife, and at first I was skeptical- maybe the bright turquoise color threw me off? Before he moved out, however, I made sure that I found one of these knives for myself.
I only cut vegetables with it, and it has stayed wonderfully sharp. I’m on the shorter/smaller side, so with other knives I had trouble finding a good balance, and often times my forearm would get too tired because of a knife’s weight. This knife is incredibly light, so I can chop without tiring. Excellent!
Overall, the Pure Komachi is a wonderful value, and great for chopping veggies. The serrated knife (the yellow one) is great for cutting bread, too.
For the price…I did not expect much of a knife…I bought it after reading all the soaring reviews. After it arrived…the first thing I noticed was the very light weight …and no balance to speak of. However…the “proof is in the pudding” as they say..off to dice up some tomatoes. It did fair…not great. The blade could be sharper for this weight of knife. I have a ceramic knife that is very good slicing tomatoes…and this pale green wonder comes in a decided third to it. It needs more weight to aid in cutting. Will probably be used often for general hacking. Good enough for the price…but not a great knife.
This knife promises much, but does not deliver. First of all I bought it as a present to my wife. She refused to use it, preferring her ancient rusty beat up family heirloom. The Teflon coating does not clean well and has chipped. The transparent handle now has rust inside it where it can’t be cleaned. Not happy!
I have owned this knife for 2 years now, and still love it. Yes, I have another chef’s knife by a well-known company for which I paid 4x more, but somehow I keep coming back to this one. I use it not only on fruits and veggies (recommended) but for meats, cheeses, anything. It’s lightweight but not flimsy, cute but not (to me) obnoxious, and works well for a great price. It has held up nicely over the years with a little staining on the blade, which does not bother me as it does not affect functionality.
I recently bought a knife sharpener, and it was the best thing I ever did. Today it cuts as well as the day I got it.
My entire family loves this knife – it looks unique – cuts EVERYTHING beautifully! Very sharp – excellent as bread knife as well as for slicing meats AND you can spread the mayo too! This was our third knife purchase.
I had purchased another Komachi Knife previously and liked it so much that I got rid of all of my old knives (that were not so good). I have quite a few of these Komachi Knives in different sizes and love them all. They are so light weight but very sharp and easy to use. While not expensive, the quality is unbelievably good.
This knife is awsome. It cuts like a dream. We use it mostly just for bread, but have used it on sandwiches and the like a few times. The greatest part is no sticking to the blade. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this knife.
I’ve had this knife for some time and love it. My father who is not easily impressed, and a family friend recently visited, tried it, and each had to have one.
I am a big fan of the Komachi knives. Their blades are much thinner than your typical chef’s knife and they are incredibly sharp. They also have a nice feel. My only reservation is that although they can be sharpened, I can never get them as sharp as when they were new. Nevertheless, it makes a great everyday knife.
I really wanted to like this knife. I read all of the reviews and I loved the design, but it’s uncomfortable to use. My wrist felt sore after using it for less than a minute, cutting an apple into quarters. Yes, I know it’s a fish knife, but cutting an apple shouldn’t have put that much pressure on my wrist. I guess I can save it for cutting tofu or fish, or continue using it as an ornament. It’s not an ideal “all purpose” knife.
It’s advertised as a fish knive, but it is fantastic for all kinds of daily kitchen cutting, from fruits and vegetables, to meat and fish. Great ergonomic feel and razor sharp at an excellent price.
this knife was purchased with the intent to give each of our groomsmen as gifts. My fiance is a fisherman and cuts and fillets fish quite often. I have also had to learn the skills. I have used professional grade knives in the past to cut fish, but most of them had too long a blade for most reef fish. The komachi knife blade looked awfully small to me at first, but when cutting fish of varying sizes, I find that it does its job adequately. Komachi knives have great grip in the handle, and they are lightweight. There is a slight flex in the blade, enough to maneuver around bones and small areas on fish. I have yet to use the top of the knife, which is for scaling. I still just use a fork for the job. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who cuts or cleans fish often.
I was expecting a lot more from this knife but this is one case of “you get what you pay for”. I dont recommend this knife because the feel is cheap. Pay a little more and get a nice knife to chop or cut. I cook a lot so I need something that is comfortable for my hands and this is not it.
Try the Rachel Ray Furi East/West Knife. More expensive but worth it.
